Seed Multiplication
Our substantial, professional and dedicated grower team, commitment to quality, acknowledged reliability and domestic and international logistics experience makes us the ideal seed multiplication alliance partner.
At Seedmark, we are singularly proud of our substantial domestic and international portfolio of seed multiplication contracts. We believe that this is a testament to the professionalism that Seedmark and its growers bring to every facet of our work. And it is certainly backed by our unique production resources that give us a globally competitive advantage in contract seed production.
Our Grower Team
Seedmark's professional, dedicated and full time grower team is among the best and the largest in the world, with many of them also being shareholders in our company.
The South-East of South Australia is our primary production area due to the inherent seed production advantages that the region offers. With a Mediterranean climate, access to irrigation water and suitable soil types, the South-East has a distinct seed multiplication advantage in the growth of high quality, reliable and cost competitive seed.
That said, we also continue to expand into other production areas - such as New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania - to deliver the benefits of diversification and to give our customers added reliability of supply.
Across these locales, we currently produce in excess of 80 individual proprietary varieties and over 40 common varieties. An inventory of product that is continually growing.
Quality
At Seedmark, quality is an absolute production and distribution commitment, not just a convenient marketing clichè. We know that it is something that translates into genetic purity, higher germination, better establishment, increased productivity and improved overall efficiency.
And that's why, for us, quality is something we rigorously focus on at each and every step of the business process. From planting the highest quality stock seed to superior grower crop management. From modern harvesting and cleaning techniques to highly controlled and market leading packaging, storing and distribution. Everything we do is totally underscored by the Seedmark commitment to quality.
That's but one of the reasons why we have made a major investment to gain and maintain our ISO9001 accreditation. It is why we continually undergo independent testing to International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) standards to further guarantee the integrity of our products. And it is also why we have the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) provide a unique level of added protection for international customers, by ensuring all our shipments comply with rigorous Australian export procedures and the demanding requirements of importing countries.
Logistics
We have long been convinced that effective logistics is one of the prime contributors to any seed business' long term success. Indeed, as customers become more demanding, government regulations increase, and weather conditions become more uncertain, we know that superior supply chain management becomes an ever increasing imperative.
Which is why Seedmark continues to critically review its own logistics procedures and regularly makes appropriate changes to the ways in which we handle our product. Recently we have made further significant investments in new information technology which has allowed us to gain much greater control over all facets of product handling and distribution. More importantly, these IT enhancements have also reduced our customer delivery times. We have similarly dedicated additional staff to all of our operations areas & so that we can be even more responsive to our customers' needs and get product moving with maximum speed, efficiency and reliability.
But at days end, great logistics is also about experience. And here, our 45 plus years of worldwide shipping and our intimate understating of, and compliance with, a vast range of differing national import regulations really does set us apart.
Crop Monitoring & Reporting
Complementing Seedmark's production work in seed multiplication is our commitment to effective crop monitoring and comprehensive and timely reporting.
We begin by inspecting all crops several times a season and then provide reports to our customers based on their nominated timetables. We never forget that in the volatile business we are all in - impacted by the unpredictability of such things as climate - partners need this feedback to better manage their own customer demand and distribution activities.
We also set ourselves the task of constantly improving our monitoring and reporting activities. None the least by regularly enhancing our information technology applications so that we have better communications systems in place that can deliver the most comprehensive and up to date information as quickly as possible.
