SEEDMARK ACQUISITION OF PLANTTECH DELIVERS KEY TO DOMESTIC AND GLOBAL SUCCESS Seedmark - one of Australia's most innovative seed companies has heralded the acquisition of domestic distributor PlantTech as a vital step towards reinforcing Australia's reputation within the global seed supply market. Seedmark General Manager, Craig Myall, said the combined strength and expertise of these two organisations into one new structure was a recipe for success. "The new Seedmark results in a fully Australian-owned company able to punch well above its weight on a national and international level and better respond to the needs of our diverse customer base," Mr Myall said. "The new-look Seedmark will be a far more efficient company, with production, sales and marketing for both domestic and export markets performed by one unified and focussed business, resulting in significant improvements to marketing strategy, product development, inventory management and overall business efficiency," he said. "The business will be responsible for the development, production, marketing and distribution of seed and related products and services into both international and domestic markets." Seedmark's diverse product range which currently produces and markets around 80 individual proprietary seed varieties and over 40 common seed varieties to more than 65 countries around the world will be further enhanced by the PlantTech field crop and pasture seed portfolio of products which supply's the Australian domestic market. PlantTech National Sales & Marketing Manager, Tim Pepper welcomed the announcement and the opportunity to bring together the strengths from both businesses to ensure the Australian company continues to be successful. "The acquisition provides the platform for Seedmark to grow its profitability and deliver greater flexibility in aligning products in the marketplace according to changing customer demand," Mr Pepper said. Following the 1 December transaction, the new Seedmark Head Office will be in Adelaide with strong regional representation across Australia. The Chairman of Seedmark Board, Brendon Smart said the major contributor to the venture's successful global track record and growth is its continued focus on Seed Research and Development. "R&D remains a significant priority and fundamental to success will be our commitment and ability to facilitate relevant and diverse seed product groupings," Mr Smart said. "Growers are constantly seeking new opportunities and Seedmark will further improve our successful model designed to identify, develop and deliver new and improved versions of existing seed varieties," he said.
