Casbah [ Biserrula ]

05-10-2005
Casbah Biserrula (Biserrula pelecinus) is a deep-rooted, hard-seeded annual pasture that is adapted to a broad range of well drained soil types. Plants are prostrate to erect with a spreading growth habit. Casbah demonstrates early to mid season maturity suited to cereal rotations and is very grazing tolerant. Its deep-rooted nature will enhance plant survival during periods of drought, providing more feed for stock over a longer period of time. Casbah can produce high quality feed with crude protein levels typically reaching 25% and has not been observed to have any significant disease issues. It has a low bloat risk, but can cause photosensitivity in the spring period if legume dominant. Paddock preparation for Casbah prior to the year of sowing is extremely important for successful establishment, as there is currently no registered herbicide for broadleaf control.
